On a quiet summer afternoon, a shuffle caught our attention. We saw a tall colleague trying to adjust the height of his chair to be able to work on his desk in our open office. He adjusted the chair but either his legs were too cramped or the table was too low. His neighbor, a petite woman a little shy of 5 feet, faced a similar challenge - she was more prepared though. Propped against cushions, she sat cross-legged on her chair to achieve the right table- chair height balance. “Don’t worry” she remarked to her neighbor in good humor, “office furniture caters to the average ones”. Both started laughing. The gentleman sitting opposite the duo was unamused. He was clearly working on something important — because he was now looking for a seat that was more quiet.
This seemed a usual day at any usual office but as we gazed around the room, noticing people in more detail; we struck a chord. Offices today are made standardised, not necessarily focussing on the comfort of the end-user. The very office space designed for work is impeding productivity.
And that’s what made all the difference.
There is a definitive need for work systems to adapt to the users to create environments that nurture productivity and innovation. Our mission is to push the boundaries of innovations for a true workspace revolution.
We rigorously studied work environments, physiology, psychology and sociology to focus on a solution that caters to the evolving needs. Extensive scientific inputs on ergonomics, energy consumption and technology were roped in to create features that are inclusive to the diverse workforce and mindful of the global energy impact.
Our newfound learnings coupled with our deep-rooted expertise in space and product design is helping us challenge the unidimensional conception of work enablers like the table.
